A Question for You Other Bloggers/LJers Out There

Do you ever stop adding people to your list? (LJ friends, bookmarks, whatever -- I'm using Bloglines myself.)

Because, just now, I added three more blogs to my list, for an all-time high of 80. I just keep stumbling across people who I vaguely know, or know of, and suddenly think, "Oh, that guy is blogging, too?" (This is especially noticeable in the murky depths of LJ, where no one has a #%@! real name, so you have to either already know who they are, or figure it out from context.)

At what point do you say "I can't even read the ones I have now" and curl up into a fetal ball? For me, it's still fun and exciting to see everyone out there, but surely that must end at some point, right? (Says the man with 190 unread posts sitting in another window.)

I currently have 566 journals, communities, and feeds on my LJ "friends" list. That's not bad; I occasionally hit the 750-friend maximum and have to do some housecleaning. I have at least half of them on my daily read filter.

All right, I guess that's plausible, but if those 500-ish people each post one thing a day, at about 100 words (half a typewritten page; pretty small) each, that's 50,000 words every day, more than an old-fashioned novel.

Add in things like Boing Boing or Slashdot, which have new posts every time I blink, and I wonder how anyone gets any work done these days...

I add and remove blogs/journals fairly regularly, if a friend starts one up I'll add it. If I find myself clicking to a blog from somebody else's blog I'll add it.

Right now I've got abut 45, plus links to authors and their journals.

Once again, my obsessive-compulsive urge to read to the end of everything (I do manage to skim newspapers, but I have to specifically not read something in a magazine) leaves me hopelessly behind people with more sensible reading habits...
