Names, Names, Names

Just saw an ad box in today's Publishers Weekly e-mail:
Kendra Hilferty has been a witch for 300 years....
Kendra? Kendra is the name your witchy-girl got in 1712 or so? I very much do not think so....

I would assume she 'died' and changed her name periodically to avoid anyone noticing her strange longevity.

Yes, but "Except-For-the-Love-of-God-Thou-Wouldst-Assuredly-Be-Damned" Hilferty is too cumbersome for modern forms, conspicuous, and a bit too ironic under the circumstances. I think "Kendra" is much less problematic, although I might have preferred "Felicity" as more nearly the best of both worlds. "Prudence" is decidedly out of fashion.
