What It's Like to Be an Eisner Judge

Brigid Alverson encapsulates the experience brilliantly.

The year I was a judge, I didn't see much from publishers -- I hope her note implies that they're more active in sending to judges now, since that was a definite lack then -- but, otherwise, this is very close to my experience. And, yes, a weekend in a nice hotel with nothing to do from dawn till dusk but reading and arguing about what you've just read with some very smart, very knowledgeable people is just as much fun as it sounds.
