Artemis Fowl author Eoin Colfer will write a new installment in Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy seriesIn the history of bad ideas, this is certainly up there -- and I say that not having read any of Mr. Colfer's books. But Mammon will have his sacrifice.

Say It Ain't So, Joe

It probably IS a bad idea, but Colfer is a good writer and his sense of humour is pretty warped. His kid's books are excellent and sell very well, and I would not think he needs to do this for the money.
Noooooooooooooo! This does not please me.
Oh, God.
Well, leaving aside whether Hitchhiker's needs another episode, the news could have been a lot worse. I'm an avid reader of Colfer (forget the kids, those books are MINE! Mwahahaha), and second the comment that he's a terrific writer.
At least the publisher chose someone in the same geographical region as Adams, so the cultural aspect to the sense of humour will be concomitant, which is a Very Important Consideration. Best of luck to him, I say.
Kevin J. Anderson wasn't available?

Colfer is Irish, Adams was English. I have to assume that they look close because you are very far away.
This echoes my reaction.
I'm glad it's not just me.
