Read in December

This was a quiet month for book-reading; I was first trying to catch up on the New Yorker (and I've gone from five months behind in mid-fall to only seven weeks behind right now) and then had the final push to finish the basement and move all my office stuff back down there. But I did manage to read a few things:

I'm going to hope that things will settle down in the new year, and that I'll get back to my previous reading pace -- but we all know not to put too much weight on hopes.
