Publishers Weekly reports this morning that medium-sized press HCI Communications -- best known for creating the inexplicably popular and ever-expanding "Chicken Soup" series of anthologies -- has canned 35 employees. The losses are all in the manufacturing and production end; no sales or editorial jobs were lost.
No word as to whether the ex-employees were offered chicken soup as a severance package.
